Cristal’s Survival Kit

Look, I’m not a doctor. Even if sometimes I feel like one from the amount of research I do. These are the thingamabobs that have actually made my MS life slightly less of a dumpster fire. From infusion day snacks to  this is my honest, lived-experience survival kit.

MS Essentials for Pain

These aren't medical prescriptions, just some stuff that made my 'shenanigans' a little more manageable. Tested by me, approved by my body.

TENS Machine

This is the best for spot treatment of my MS muscle pain and neck tension.

When I used it: Daily life, especially when my Lhermitte is bad.

How useful it was: Literally a lifesaver. Keeps my pain manageable expecially in my neck.

Hot and Cold Ice Pack Therapy Gel Wrap- reusable.

When I'm hot and about to melt its cold, when my arm and leg get spasms It's hot... Its everything I need

When I used it: Every time i over heat or get spasms.. so every day

How useful it was: Essential.

Lidocaine Plus+ Cream

I try to change between pain medication and the lidocaine cream for pain in my arms and legs. This cream has done wonders!

When I used it:  Every other time for pain in arms and legs. I bought 3 bottles and hid them around the house.

How useful it was: Honest to god, it’s the only reason I’m semi-functional when im not on meds for pain.

MS Essentials for Movement

With MS everyone enters in at different stages. I wont lie, I did get diagnosed early and thus have much of my movement. That being said, when I have a flare my left leg goes numb and balance becomes a figment of my imagination. So I use these to balance and move!

Walking Cane

Ive been using this one for 3 weeks now and compared to the other 2 I bought this one was the best. I like that is can be more compact and the grip at the bottom is strong. I will see how long it will last, so return for a 1 year update.

When I used it: On high numbness days this has been great to help with balance and movement

Shower Chair

Shower Chair! Make my shower into a nice relaxing experience... and I dont fall! Yay!

When I used it: I mean the shower obviously, but sometimes after I use it to sit and dry my hair or use it when I am bathing my 1 year old and can't use my knees to hold me up.

Car Door Handles

I feel personally victimized by this amazon listing. It says Car Door Handles for elderly. No amazon I use this too and I'm 30. Maybe to Gen Alpha i might be vintage but I am still spry!.... when im not in a flare or in pain... ANYWAY love these for cars, big, small, tall, or short I keep one in my bag so I feel safe and secure

When I used it: All cars!

MS and Parenting

As a parent to a 1 year, I am trying to find ways to introduce her to how I am feeling and what is MS early. I want to be normal to see momma not at her best but that does not mean I love her less. So this are somethings that help with the explaining and add to bonding time.

Some Days: A Tale of Love, Ice Cream, and My Mom’s Chronic Illness

This is such a cure book. I like how it is not just MS, so for others with chronic illiness I can use to for them too.

My Mom Is Strong

This one is the most informational with out overwhelming my baby. I want her to understand me on by bad days but know that I am strong and I am fighting.
